NBA Entertainment (www.nba.com/nba_tv) wanted to create a new 24x7 channel to be shown on Direct TV to promote NBA League Pass. The channel would show the schedule listing for each game available through the NBA League Pass, what channel it will be shown on, and when. For games already in progress, a game summary would be shown, including the score, period, and time remaining.

System Requirements
A minimal amount of hardware, preferably a single
       character/graphics generator.
The graphics generator must simultaneously display and update multiple
graphic regions with data from several different feeds.
The system needs to address these regions automatically or via manual input.
The software must drive the graphics device as well as interface to the
       many data providers.
The system must be expandable for on-going graphics and
       data enhancements.

Our Solution
We developed a system using the Chyron Duet and CAL (Chyron Abstraction Layer). The system also included VDS's off-the-shelf application GameTrak.

VDS created new application modules for GameTrak enabling it to operate outside the Duet on independent computers on a standard data network. These modules receive, parse, assemble and feed updated data automatically to different regions of the Duet display. In addition, NBA Entertainment staff can update data regions of the Duet display manually from their offices.
