TOKYO SOUND PRODUCTION GETS PLUGGED IN WITH VDS' SYNAPSE FOR QUANTEL generationQ
MELVILLE, NY, January 4, 2003 - VDS, a leading developer of broadcast automation software, content design applications and plug-in products has taken the international broadcast and post production markets by storm with Synapse for Quantel's generationQ product line. Synapse is VDS' proprietary plug-in product designed to support After Effects plug-ins within the Quantel user interface. VDS now offers six distinctive plug-in packages for Synapse, called Neuron Bundles, each offering an array of dramatic effects. Tokyo Sound Production (TSP: Kotobuki Bldg, Roppongi, Tokyo Japan) recently purchased VDS' Synapse with Neuron bundles I through III for their Quantel iQ.
"TSP uses the Quantel iQ primarily for long-form HD program editing and exhibition display work," said TSP's Toshinobu Hiraoka. "We tend to use the VDS plug-ins for more complicated jobs like the effects segments of TV programs and videos for use in public facilities like museums. The plug-ins can work in any resolution in just the same way as the iQ, which is very liberating. We use them at both SD and HD resolutions." Toshinobu continued, "We recently used the BCC 'Blur' and Tinder 'Bad TV' and 'Lightning' on a project to produce effected layers which were then composited together in iQ".
TSP is anticipating even greater flexibility with the arrival of iQ's V2 software update, which offers in-context plug-ins, process trees, and increased rendering speeds. They are also looking forward to adding the full range of GenArts Sapphire Plug-ins to their collection through VDS' new Synapse-Sapphire bundle.
Microcom Ltd., an authorized Synapse reseller, has been instrumental in supplying Synapse to a number of high profile facilities in Japan, including Tokyo Sound Production.

VDS and Inscriber will collaborate on development strategies and further implementation of VDS applications. This will enable broadcast clients to reach their markets with new and innovative real-time data display applications that span a wide range of media components, including content distribution and automation, interactive web-to-air content, and broadcast-to-internet delivery.
