VIDEO DESIGN SOFTWARE RELEASES TWISTER V3.5 AT IBC 2003
MELVILLE, NY, Sept 10, 2003-Video Design Software will release its next-generation broadcast paint product, Twister Paint V3.5, at the 2003 IBC Show in Amsterdam. Twister is a complete graphics content application that has been designed specifically for broadcasters. The application is fully compatible with Windows 2000, NT and XP operating systems, and is available as a plug-in or standalone paint system.
Twister draws from VDS' extensive library of Liberty code, which has been re-engineered from the ground up into a Windows interface. The product was designed to ensure a clean, intuitive user interface and was infused with broadcast-friendly features such as R/W Photoshop layers and direct connection/file support for most industry-standard devices such as Chyron, Aprisa, Pinnacle, Avid, Quantel, and many others. In addition, the software supports 3D paste image and mask layers, Photoshop plug-ins, video grab to canvas and real-time paint show to video. Twister V3.5 now incorporates enhanced functionality with Pinnacle's Thunder and Lightning systems as well as a new FTP interface and many other feature additions and enhancements.
"VDS is definitely maintaining their lead in graphic creation applications," said Steve Kang, Product Manager, Production Equipment, at Pinnacle Systems. "Twister takes advantage of the connectivity that Thunder and Lightning provide, and its tight integration enhances their overall capabilities"
Twister is resolution-independent and allows the operator to easily switch from analog to digital, NTSC to PAL or SD to HD at the click of a mouse. The resolution settings are user-configurable for custom resolutions, and the automatic aspect correction allows users to avoid the confusion of creating in one resolution and saving in another. Twister delivers all the general features found in most commonly used paint applications, but also adds many extra features that are vital to broadcast graphics production. The operator can route broadcast-quality SDI video into Twister, and the video appears directly on Twister's canvas. From there, the artist can then grab an image, treat the image using the extensive Twister image tools library or any of the hundreds of available Photoshop plug-ins, add graphics and layers, add text or shadows, and then output the composited image back through the SDI I/O with key. The product allows images to be saved over a network to a still-store, character generator, NLE or video server as a native file on that particular device, all the while working in proper video aspect with built-in safe title/action generator and illegal color suppression options. Twister can also update the database information where applicable.
Twister is Windows-based, ensuring that the product is easy to integrate into a facility and allowing other complementary editing, compositing or 3D applications to run concurrently on a system. Twister is image-compatible with most of these formats. An evaluation version of the software is available for download on the VDS web site at www.videodesignsoftware.com/users/downloader.php
