VDS Provides Elections Systems to Fox News Channel and Network
NEW YORK, NY, November 11, 2004 - With graphics that were heads above the competition in quality, format and speed, Fox News Channel and the Fox Network were able to deliver the 2004 election results to their viewers with the help of systems and software provided by VDS.
VDS provided Fox with an integrated suite of software applications to support the Fox News Channel and Fox Network productions simultaneously, with full redundancy and live backup systems.

The VDS applications included StackMaster, which provided a fast and easy way for Fox production personnel to build and trigger stacks of 3D graphics using the VizRT graphics system. Fox was able to run through many head to head elections returns as they occurred in real time, with live, on-screen data updates. The StackMaster application also provided for the real-time display of exit poll data in both full-screen and over-the-shoulder formats, display of live data for ballot referendums, display of U.S. House and U.S. Senate balance of power, and display of U.S. and state maps detailing Electoral College votes available/won, states won, and national popular vote for the U.S. presidential race.
Another key component provided to Fox was the VDS Elections Ticker, which provided real time elections returns in a lower-third ticker format. Based on the Pinnacle Deko 3000, the integrated ticker system also provided live Electoral College vote tallies, network ID bugs, and support for live news alert crawls, entered and triggered directly by control room personnel.
