VIDEO DESIGN SOFTWARE RELEASES COMMAND POST
HIGH-DEFINITION DIGITAL DISK RECORDER AT NAB
Real-time HD I/O for Liberty Studio Users
LAS VEGAS, Apr. 8, 2002—Video Design Software (VDS), will release the Command Post & Transfer Corporation high-definition digital disk recorder (CPHD-DDR) for use with VDS’ Liberty paint, animation and composting products at NAB. Developed in conjunction with Command Post and Transfer Corporation, an industry-leading international provider of post-production, visual and audio services, the CPHD-DDR provides a one-stop-shop for importing and exporting HDTV material within the Liberty user environment. The CPHD-DDR will be on display in the VDS Advanced Technology Suite, room 605 in the Cassanova section of the Venetian Hotel with co-exhibitor Video Technics.
Originally developed for Command Post’s TOYBOX visual effects division, the CPHD-DDR was developed as a fast and cost-effective solution to import uncompressed HDTV into the company’s VFX network. Real-time uncompressed HDTV is recorded in the CPHD-DDR as RAW data. The YUV space is then converted into several different image formats and exports the resulting file to and from an NFS or hotswap mount. This construction allows users to access the HD capture and image data within moments of conversion. The CPHD-DDR significantly streamlines the conversion and viewing process, requiring less manpower and saving time for Liberty operators.
