VIDEO DESIGN SOFTWARE LAUNCHES POISE FOR QUANTEL’S iQ AT NAB
Automatic Stabilization Plug-in Uses Unique Image Analysis Technology
LAS VEGAS, Apr. 8, 2002 - Video Design Software (VDS), a leading developer of broadcast automation
software and the Liberty paint and animation product line, will launch Poise, an image stabilization plug-in
for the Quantel iQ system developed around ioIMAGE’S unique stabilization technology. Poise will be on
display at the Quantel Booth L8424. In addition, Poise can be seen at the VDS Advanced Technology Suite,
room 605 in the Cassanova section of the Venetian Hotel with co-exhibitor Video Technics.
Based on the patent pending GVR (Geometrical Video Representation) technology by ioIMAGE, Poise
achieves perfect stabilization by reconstructing the camera’s motion and smoothing its trajectory. A totally
automated, resolution independent system, Poise works on any shot and is able to distinguish between
intentional and unintentional camera movements.
"I am very excited to offer our unique stabilization technology to iQ users," says Roni Kass, CEO of ioIMAGE.
"This will allow user to work on shots previously impossible to use, due to the amount of camera shakes
and movement. Video Design Software was a great partner in taking our technology and designing a plug-in
based product around it that completely integrates into the iQ user interface."
Poise automates the image stabilizing process, enabling the use of material which might otherwise be
deemed un-stable or un-usable. This process is achieved while maintaining original image quality. The
application eliminates the need to use expensive high-end stabilizing systems such as gyros and steadycams
necessary to achieve image stabilizing in certain production situations.
"The combination of ioIMAGE’s technology and its application to the iQ platform equals success for any user,” adds
D.R. Worthington, Director of Marketing and Product Manager for Liberty at VDS. “iQ operators, directors, producers,
cameramen and editors will now have the piece of mind that virtually any video, no matter how unstable, can be
made to look smooth and natural. VDS is proud to work with ioIMAGE and Quantel on the development of Poise
and looks forward to future products that come from these relationships."
