| SmartRoute is a Windows application designed for the control, scheduling and system status monitoring of up to eight Grass Valley Group routers.
|
The system also allows for the display of router status on
an in-house CATV system, as well as the ability to publish scheduling information to newsroom systems and
to intranets in HTML format.
"The SmartRoute system is easier, quicker, more versatile, more robust and more adaptable to our future
needs than our old control system." - John Marrin, Operations Engineer, NBC
 |
Simple Configuration |
The SmartRoute system is easily configured with operator-friendly user interface modules. Routers are
automatically queried to determine available sources and destinations. A systems administrator may
enable/disable individual sources and destinations for use by operators as required.
Once configured, the SmartRoute system accepts router control and scheduling information from an
operator via an intuitive, graphical user interface. The system can display the router schedule
information using a Chyron CODI or other character generator over an in-house CATV system, and can
also provides router-scheduling information to BASYS or other automation systems as an ASCII data
feed.
 |
Serious Control |
Control is provided for up to eight Grass Valley router systems, automatically making the
required patches to the CATV system. In the current implementation, selected router sources are
switched to up to 24 GVG-7000 router destinations with future expansion possible. Router switch
transitions occur simultaneously with internal facility timing.
